Undocumented Logic Control commands
The following are Logic Control commands that have been added or changed since the initial release and printing of the manual. Thanks to Michael Haydn for making these available on the Yahoo logic-users list. If anyone at Emagic wants these removed, please just let me know by email (no lawyers required).
Version 6.0.1
F CS. New preferences switch "Jog resolution depends on horizontal zoom": if enabled, and the most-top window contains a time ruler, the jog wheel resolution corresponds the clock difference of 10 pixels, if appropriate rounded to bar, beat or format. This new feature affects all jog wheel, i.e. of Logic Control, SAC-2k, SI-24, all HUI compatible devices.
W CS. Logic Audio: EQ bands 1..4 are now mapped to Channel EQ's four bands: Low Shelf, Par EQ 2, Par EQ 3, High Shelf
Version 6.0.0
W CS. Renamed "Track View" to "Mixer View"; renamed "Extended Track View" to "Arrange View".
W CS. During offline bouncing and freezing, no more feedback is sent to control surfaces.
F LC. SHIFT + GROUP now creates a new group, opens the Group window and enters Group Edit mode.
F LC. While the CONTROL button is held down, the Group Clutch is enabled.
W LC. Track Setup view: as EQ types can't be edited any more, layout of this view has changed:
V-Pot/Select 1: Track Mode
V-Pot/Select 2: Surround Mode
V-Pot/Select 3: Input
V-Pot/Select 4: Output
V-Pot/Select 5: Automation Mode
V-Pot/Select 6: Group membership
W LC. EQ select menu: as EQ types can't be edited any more, layout of this view has changed:
V-Select 1: Frequency
V-Select 2: Gain
V-Select 3: Q
V-Select 4: Bypass
V-Select 6: Channel Strip
V-Select 7: Frequency/Gain (multi channel)
V-Select 8: Frequency/Gain (channel strip)
F CS. EQ editing now supports the new Channel EQ. When the song setting "Use old pre-6.0 EQs" is unchecked, control surfaces show the first Channel EQ's parameters in EQ editing. There are 8 instead of 4 EQ bands. Per band, there are four parameters (Freq, Gain/Order, Q, On/Off). When the option is checked, the four old EQ bands are shown.
W LC. To better support the new Channel EQ, the "Frequency/Gain Channel Strip view" (to be entered with EQ + V-Select 8) now has the following assignment:
V-Pot/Select 1..8: Frequencies of bands 1..8
MUTE 1..8: Bypasses of bands 1..8
Faders 1..8: Gains of bands 1..8
W LC. TRACK + V-Select 7 now enables Extended Track View
F LC. TRACK + GROUP switches to Track Multi Channel View, displaying Track Group parameter
F LC. Support for Groups on Logic Control:
* pressing GROUP enters Group edit mode:
* GROUP button's LED is on
* Assignment display shows currently displayed group, e.g. "G1".
* Time display shows group name (10 last characters if name is longer than 10 characters)
* Upper LCD line displays track names
* Lower LCD line displays group parameters
* Group parameters can be toggled with V-Selects
* Cursor up/down selects previous/next group
* Cursor left/right shifts group parameter display
* SELECT buttons display if a track is a member of the group. Pressing a SELECT button toggles track membership of the group
* with GROUP edit mode off, holding dow GROUP and pressing one or more SELECT buttons allows you to create a new group (does not work yet correctly)
* In Track Multi Channel View, there is a new parameter "Group" which can be selected with Cursor left/right. It displays which group the instrument is a member of. Multiple group membership is displayed like in the Track Mixer window
* Turning a V-Pot changes group membership. Note that you can only select one group (or "Off") here.
F LC. Pressing TRACK + V-Select 7 (displaying "DisplP") goes to Track Multi Channel View and displays the automation parameter selected for display in the Arrange window. This is especially useful in Extended Track View. You can get there also by entereing Track Multi Channel View (press TRACK) and then press Cursor Right until the automation parameter selected for display appears.
Version 5.5.0
W LC. When there is no Master Volume object in the song (or in Gold and Audio where this object is not supported), Logic Control's Master fader maps to Output 1-2.
F LC. Pressing CMD/ALT+ NAME/VALUE enters "Control Surface Group Settings Mode". Here you can edit several control surface group settings, some of which are not accessible with a single button:
* V-Pot/Select 5 (label "TrkNam"): sets track name display format "Name" - track name only "#:Name" - track number and name This parameter can also be toggled with OPTION + NAME/VALUE
* V-Pot/Select 6 (label "Lock"): toggles Channel Strip View track lock "Off" - as you are use to: selecting a track also switches the currently edited Channel Strip track "On" - the currently edited Channel Strip Track is not affected by selecting a track. Notes:
* When you switch from On to Off, this also updates the Channel Strip track
* to edit another track in Locked mode, first disable Lock, then select the desired track, then re-enable Lock
* V-Pot/Select 7 (label "Disply"): toggles LCD display format "Name" - upper line displays global info, lower line displays parameter names. "Value" - upper line displays parameter names, lower line displays parameter values. This parameter can also be toggled with NAME/VALUE.
* V-Pot/Select 8 (label "Clock"): toggles Clock display format "Beats" - clock is displayed in format bars/measures/beats/ticks. "SMPTE" - clock is displayed in SMPTE format This parameter can also be toggled with SMPTE/BEATS.
* Control Surface Group Settings Mode can be left by pressing NAME/VALUE, or by entering one of the Marker or Nudge modes.
F LC. Big Marker Mode: functionality of V-Selects 1..3 have moved to V-Selects 6..8. V-Selects 1..5 now display the first 5 Markers by name. Pressing a V-Pot sets the clock to this Marker. When the clock is inside a marker, the lower line displays INSIDE, and the V-Pot LED ring is on.
Version 5.3.0
I LC. Once firmware version V1.0 or newer has been recognized, you will never get the "newer firmware" message only because there was a MIDI communication problem (and Logic assumed the LC has an old beta version which does not yet support the Version Request message).
Version 5.2.0
F LC. OPTION + SELECT 1..8 creates a new track with the same instrument of the selected track and switches to Extended Track View
F LC. SHIFT + OPTION + SELECT 1..8 creates a new track with the next instrument of the selected track and switches to Extended Track View
F LC. CMD/ALT + F1 equals "Cut" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F2 equals "Copy" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F3 equals "Paste" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F4 equals "Clear" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F5 equals "Select All" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F6 equals "Select All Following" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F7 equals "Select Similar Objects" key command
F LC. CMD/ALT + F8 equals "Select Inside Locators" key command
I LC. Pressing MUTE with EQ / SEND / PLUG-IN / INSTRUMENT held down has been moved to SHIFT + MUTE - was too confusing, as releasing the assignment button would also change assignment which is not desired if you just want to see the object's mute
I LC. Pressing V-Select with OPTION held down in Plug-in or Instrument view has been moved to SHIFT + V-Select - collides with planned "all objects" toggle.
I LC. Pressing MUTE with SHIFT held down mutes/bypasses the currently edited object (EQ, Send, Plug-In, Instrument). Works for Plug-ins in Multi Channel and Channel Strip Views, for all other objects only in Multi Channel View
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 1 or SHIFT + MUTE 2 toggles track mute
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 3 or SHIFT + V-Select 3 toggles instrument mute
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 4 or SHIFT + V-Select 4 toggles plug-in insert 1 bypass
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 5 or SHIFT + V-Select 5 toggles plug-in insert 2 bypass
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 6 or SHIFT + V-Select 6 toggles Send 1 Mute
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 7 or SHIFT + V-Select 7 toggles Send 2 Mute
F LC. Track Channel Strip View: SHIFT + MUTE 8 or SHIFT + V-Select 8 toggles Send 3 Mute
I LC. MARKER + LATCH now also works from small and big marker mode
I LC. Removed OPTION + MUTE feature in plug-in and instrument view, as this is now done with the PLUG-IN or INSTRUMENT buttons.
F LC. While holding down PLUG-IN, pressing a MUTE button toggles Bypass of the current Plug-in on the track (Multi channel view) or the respective plug-in on the selected track (Channel Strip view).
F LC. While holding down INSTRUMENT from Multi Channel Instrument view, pressing a MUTE button toggles Bypass of the Instrument on the track
F LC. While in EQ Multi Channel View and flip mode enabled (Duplicate or Swap), the MUTE buttons display and edit the current EQ band's Bypass
F LC. While in Send Multi Channel View and flip mode enabled (Duplicate or Swap), the MUTE buttons display and edit the current Send's Mute
F LC. Faders displaying Track Mute, EQ bypass or Send Mute (in flip mode) display the value inverted, i.e. fader up means signal enabled / unmuted.
F LC. While holding down MARKER, pressing NUDGE creates a marker. This allows you to create a marker with one hand without entering "Big Permanent Marker Mode".
I CS. "Touching fader selects track" only applies to tracks in fader bank (i.e. not the Master Fader) and not while recording
F LC. While holding down EQ, pressing a MUTE button toggles Bypass of the current EQ on the track.
F LC. While holding down SEND, pressing a MUTE button toggles Mute of the current Send on the track.
F LC. While holding down OPTION in Plug-In Multi Channel or Channel Strip view, pressing a MUTE button toggles Bypass of the current Insert on the track.
F LC. While holding down OPTION in Instrument Multi Channel view, pressing a MUTE button toggles Bypass of the track instrument.
F LC. Holding CYCLE, then turning the Jog Wheel enables Cycle, sets the Left Locator to the current SPL, advances the SPL as normally, then sets the Right Locator to the SPL. Further Jog Wheel turns while still holding down CYCLE advances the SPL and sets the Right Locator again. Tip: rotating the jog wheel counterclockwise while holding down CYCLE defines a skip-cycle range.
F LC. Holding DROP, then turning the Jog Wheel enables Drop, sets the Drop In Locator to the current SPL, advances the SPL as normally, then sets the Drop Oout Locator to the SPL. Further Jog Wheel turns while still holding down DROP advances the SPL and sets the Drop out Locator again.
F LC. SHIFT + SCRUB enables Shuttle mode on the Jog Wheel (SCRUB button LED flashes).
F LC. Pressing Cursor Keys while holding down Zoom button scrolls active window by page. When releasing the Zoom button, the previous Zoom status is preserved
I LC. Entering Permanent Cursor Key mode with SHIFT + ZOOM now also works from enabled Zoom mode
I LC. Zoom button LED now flashes while in Permanent Cursor button mode
I LC. Audio channels without a function are suppressed in track mode of the Logic Control. This is especially important without the Universal Track mode, because the right channels without function are suppressed.
F LC. Changing the plug-in/instrument edit page with the cursor keys now displays "Page x/y" for a moment; changing the edited plug-in slot displays 'Insert x "y"' for a moment.
F LC. Support for X/Y surround editing:
* two new parameters X and Y are available in Pan/Surround Multi Channel and Channel Strip views (V-Pots 5 and 6 in Channel Strip view). The Angle/Diversity and X/Y pairs influence each other. Only the Angle/Diversity parameters are automated and recorded.
* in Pan/Surround menu (hold PAN/SURROUND button down), soft button "Ang/Dv" has moved from V-Select 8 to V-Select 7. V-Select 8 now activates the new "X/Y" Multi Channel view (Mode display: "HY" - the X character is not available on a 7 segment display). In this view, V-Pots control X, and faders control Y.
* X and Y have the value range -1000 ... 1000, however the resolution is not that high, as surround positions are currently recorded in 7 bit only.
* Note that X and Y act in a rectangular coordinate system. So value pairs outside the surround circle are not possible. When trying to set a value which would lead to an invalid position, the other coordinate is automatically adjusted to a valid position, e.g. moving Y to 1000 will lead X to become 0.
* when editing only one coordinate, the other coordinate of the most recently track is memorized. This helps getting straight movement lines.
